Gulfport Art Walk

My friend Dave lives in Gulfport, located in the southwest corner of the Pinellas peninsula. It's about a 20 minute drive from my apartment in Old NE. Every month on the first Friday and third Saturday there is an "Art Walk". According to a Gulfport brochure, it "features several bands performing throughout the Art Village with artists showing their wares in front of all the unique stores." And although Dave lives two blocks from the main street in the village, he hasn't been in a long time.

Gulfport is a cute little "artsy" community. During the art walk, the main street and sidewalks and courtyards are crowded with people.

Since we were both hungry, our first stop was Pia's Trattoria. I had Pesto Rosso, angel hair with sundried tomotoes, garlic, cayenne pepper, olive oil. YUMMMMMMM! Our waitress, Melissa reminded me of Minnie Driver in Return to Me. She even laughed like her.

This picture is a bit dark, but it shows the patio area on the side. It extends into the back of the restaurant too. It was packed when we got there, so we ate in the, what I call, the 'rustic' room inside the front door.

The Peninsula Inn and Spa is an historic inn located on Beach Blvd. We walked inside to take a look. Old school charm for sure.

Dave wanted to show me this upscale restaurant, so we took a quick walk thru of Bellini's. It was super modern posh inside. Not at all like the rest of the Gulfport village. Really dynamite lighting and decor.

I'm still feeling a bit surreal; it being November and me going out in short sleeves, shorts and flip flops!
