Hallowe'en Blast

Well...the day has arrived! *** 80 degrees *** and sunny! What day is this? I snapped this first picture while walking along the sidewalk.

At work today, everyone dressed up. Most of the women in the branch picked a theme . . . come to work in your pajamas and slippers. Talk about professionalism! I, of course, was far too classy. And I did manage to control myself and show the utmost restraint in refraining from eating toooooo much candy.

After I got home from work I took a stroll around my neighborhood. I couldn't believe it! On my street, one block to the east of me and on the street one block to the north, the streets were blocked for the Hallowe'en 'party'. People set up chairs in front of their homes and hand out treats from there. The sidewalks and streets were crowded with kids and parents. One lady even called me over to give me some treats! My first Twix bar of the day!

So, here are some of the scenes from my very own Hallowe'en Trick or Treat!

ADDENDUM: I left my apartment around 8:00 pm to meet some friends for dinner. I could hardly get out of my neighborhood! Either I'm living in the right place or the wrong place! There were cars, and people everywhere! There were all color lights and strobe lights and music and scarey sounds coming from every direction! Hallowe'en on a balmy "summer" night... I guess they really do things really BIG in this neighborhood!

Boo!

First Day on the New Job

Everything went very well on my first day at my new job. Have a trainer working with me. After a 5 minute commute, spent the morning processing transactions from the night drop box. Then after lunch, dove right in and waited on the members. Other than the awkwardness of remember which was my right hand and which was my left, things went well! I balanced out at the end of the day, so I'm happy!

Here are a couple more decorated homes. I had hoped to get out earlier to take some more pictures, but the empty refrigerator was just screaming for me to do some grocery shopping. And then, of course, I had to watch Heroes.

P. S. I have my windows open....a nice cool breeze tonight.

Felliniesque Carnival

It's about time I posted a couple more Hallowe'en scenes from some of the homes in my neighborhood. That day is soon upon us! All of the pictures are from homes that are within walking distance of my apartment.

I'll post more tomorrow.

My friend David invited me to go to an "Oktoberfest" held at a local church in Gulfport. It had been a while since he had gone, and he was a bit imbarassed because it wasn't quite as he had remembered. It was more of a old type carnival, although I did see a Budweiser truck there. Anyhow, we got a bite to eat, then thought about going on one of the rides, but were afraid that we may upchuck our 'dinner', so decided against it. The crowd of people in the food tent conjured up images of a Felllini movie. But, anyhow, I thought this concession was cool.

Losing Track of Time

These past couple of days have been pretty cloudy and every so often, pretty rainy too. I had some errands to run this morning....the Credit Union and the Post Office. I clocked it . . . it's 1.5 miles to the branch where I will be working! For my training, I had to drive to Brandon, which turned out to be a 60 mile round trip ride. Now I'll be exchanging that for a 3 mile round trip ride! Woo! Hoo! I'll be visiting the gas station a lot less now! Plus, saving the $6 in tolls each day!

After I finished my errands, I decided to visit the Saturday Morning Market again. I bought myself a vegetable curry crepe which came with a small salad. YUM! As I was sitting there in my t-shirt and shorts and flip flops, I realized that here I was, still thinking summer, and it is almost November. It's weird how I've lost sense of seasons passing. It doesn't seem like Hallowe'en time, but last night I was in Target for a short while and saw aisles and aisles of Hallowe'en stuff. Right next to the Christmas stuff!

Tonight I'm going out with some friends to a 'Hallowe'en Party' at one of the local hangouts. Maybe I'll wear my LOST numbers shirt?

This is an interesting shot. Every so often I'll see one of these huge palm fronds (is that what they're called?) on the ground. I guess that's how these palms get rid of their waste. I've wondered what would happen if one fell on the top of the soft roof of my Jeep. This morning, I saw this site . . . the bottom had split and it must have somehow slid down the trunk. No idea! My Jeep was parked two palm trees up from this one.

Sunset Beach Sunset

Instead of taking my nightly walk along the Bay and the Bayou, I decided to see my first sunset from Sunset Beach. There was a beautiful balmybreeze blowing across from the Gulf, and there were row after row of waves...a beautiful experience.

This was looking south...the clouds and the colors were amazing!
