Friday's Guilty Pleasure

I have been very good this week. I went for long walks 4 nights this week. Wayne has a production committee meeting for Una Voce's holiday concert. I'm meeting him later at Georgie's, so figured I might as well get in my walk before I go. You can see by the above picture, I decided to 'reward' myself by stopping at Paciugo for an Affogato al Caffè. Oink! Oink!
A couple of homes were beginning to decorate for autumn and Hallowe'en. Is it that time already???

From Sunset to Moonrise

Another walk . . . decided to do a 360 of the sunset and moonrise from my vantage point in Vinoy Park, downtown St. Pete. And if you listen closely, you can hear the music from my iPod.

A Visit from Mia

Mia came for the day on Saturday. We had a blast! First on the list: stopped at my credit union branch just before they closed at noon. I got to introduce Mia and Wayne to some of my co-workers. Next stop: Mazzaro's for lunch. Oink! Oink! Mia saw the macaroni pie and it reminded her of Aunt Iz's macaroni pie we always had at Thanksgiving. I had the Mazzaro burger and Wayne had the Italian panini.

There was this little old Italian lady sitting at the table next to us. She and her companions were sitting there enjoying the one man entertainment...singing Italian favorites. She started talking to us. She looked at Mia's macaroni pie and asked, "Did you order that?" Which means in Italian, "How could you order that??? I can make that much better!" I asked her to take our picture and she stood up and struggled with the camera, not knowing where to look. Fortunately, one of her companions, maybe her daughter, took over!

Naturally, we saved room for dessert. Strawberry rhubarb mini pie and a berry tart. Both were delicious.

Next, we went back to the apartment and changed into our bathing suits and headed over to Sunset Beach. The waves were higher than usual due to the effects of Hurricane Ike. From all of the waves, there were tons of sea shells on the beach, and as you walked into the water, there was this big drop off and you were in water up to your thighs (well, my thighs, anyway). Then as you climbed up out of the hole, you were in water just above your ankles for a good stretch before it started to get deeper again. This shot is of Mia and Wayne.

Here's a movie clip. I was hoping to catch some of the higher waves. Some really knocked you about. My camera is acting up, so some of the footage has a magenta tinge and some weird effects.

Just as we were leaving, there was this wedding ceremony taking place.

Later in the evening we went to Evos for some healthy fast food. We bypassed the shakes and went up 4th Street a block for some ice cream. I didn't take a pic of the stuff we got. We ate it too fast. Only kidding...

It was GREAT having Mia visit! I'm going to miss her even more again as she leaves soon for Colorado for several months.

9 / 11

I saw this at Y-O-Y ' s blog. It has always bothered me to see 9/11 used as a political tool to manipulate.

Scenes from Another Walk . . .

Went for a walk Monday night. Started up my street, along Coffee Pot Bayou to the Bay, and down to Vinoy Park.

Hurricane Ike

Did not do this. They are replacing some of the palms around my apartment building.

Clearwater Beach Sunset and What else? Food!

On Friday night we went to Clearwater Beach to take a long walk and watch the sunset and to get a bite to eat. It was a beautiful evening, not humid, and a nice breeze coming off the Gulf. After the walk and the sunset we ate at Frenchy's Rockaway Grill on the beach. I had the cajun grouper sandwich. M-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m!

We ran into this group just after getting there. They asked us to take their picture. While Wayne was taking their picture with their camera, I snapped one with mine. In turn they then took ours! Too bad we blinked when the picture was snapped.

There was a small group of guys water skiing along the beach by extending the tow rope from a portable motor set on the beach.

And there were a bunch of jelly fish washed up on the beach. We made sure we watched where we stepped as we walked along! This one is about 10 inches in diameter.

On Saturday afternoon we ran some errands and did some shopping. At Sam's Club we saw a box of Zero candy bars. And, what a co-inky-dink! Wayne and I both like them! Sooooo, the box of 24 went into the shopping cart.

On Saturday night Wayne made some recipes that he got from the Food Channel. First we started with Amaretto Sours with Prosecco. For the main course we had Fusilli with Sausage (hot), Artichokes, and Sun-dried Tomatoes. (That's fresh mozzarella cheese there too). These recipes are from Giada DeLaurentiis.

And finally, chocolate cookies. Another Oink! Oink!
