4th of July Weekend

We started the 3 day weekend with no plans, just to relax and take it easy. We've been having lots of rainy weather lately, and it was on again off again clouds on Friday, so we walked around one of the malls in the afternoon. Didn't buy a thing, and it remained sunny the whole time. The rest of the weekend was sunny and hot!

We met some friends at Georgie's Alibi in St. Pete on Friday night. Hit it early. Had a great time. Met Howard and Johnny there, and ran into Billy and Gary and Otto.

Billy and Gary were planning on going to see "Bathhouse the Musical in Ybor City on Saturday night, as part of the GaYbor Days celebration. We decided to join them for dinner at Streetcar Charlie's and then to the theatre. It was a cute production with plenty of catchy tunes.

On Sunday we just relaxed around the pool. Johnny joined us for dinner. We had hamburgers stuffed with onions, cheese and bacon pieces, complements of the Food Channel. Half of the burgers had feta cheese and the other half had cheddar and monterrey jack.

The corn on the cob was mouth watering!!! It's been a while since I had corn on the cob and I made a pig of myself. The baked beans had brown sugar and bacon added.
I'm starting my diet right now . . .

Now wait a minute. What's this "GaYbor Days" stuff all about? I don't recall anything like that when my husband and I lived in Tampa Bay (Bradenton). We moved to Ohio 5 years ago. Has it begun in our absence?

Your post brought back a lot of memories. We used to hang out in Ybor City a lot with our hag and her daughter and her slutty friends. OMG they were the best! We west to the Alibi over in St. Pete sometimes, but we especially loved the Suncoast Resort and the Eagle there. We heard they tore that place down to build a Home Depot!!

We used to love going to the Columbia restaurant in Ybor City for their fantastic paella. Oh man, I think we need to start planning a trip south.

Thanks for your great post.

This was the second year for GaYbor Days. Check out http://www.gaybor.com

Ybor is packed on a Saturday night.

The Home Depot was never built; there is only an empty lot there.

A new "resort" The Flamingo will be opening just south of where the Suncoast used to be.

Thanks for reading!
