Yard Sale Lollapalooza

Today was the semi-annual Crescent Lake Yard Sale.  I took a walk this morning over to the park, stopping on my way for a coffee and breakfast sandwich at Panera.

I had a spot at this sale a couple years ago.

On my way back I headed south towards 11th Ave North to pick up a map for the Old Northeast Yard Sale which was being held at the same time.  I passed these two structures which I don't recall seeing before.  Either I never walked on this block, or I'm getting more forgetful with old age.  As my Nana use to say, getting "hardening of the art-trees".

I stopped by only a handful of the sales.  But, I'm not much of a yard sailor, so I headed home for an iced tea.  I figure I have enough garbage of my own.

Another Afternoon Walk - March in St. Petersburg

For my afternoon walk today, I decided to bring along my camera.  Most of the pictures I take on my morning walks are from my cell phone, and they are horrible as far as quality is concerned.
So, I retraced some of my steps from this morning's walk so that I could get some pictures of this orange tree.  It's so cool to see ripe oranges, and orange blossoms at the same time!  And the air smells so sweet!

These cacti flowers were amazing!  This morning Dave commented that the colors looked like someone threw fruit loops on them!

I like seeing the variety of homes in the Old Northeast neighborhood!

One section of this bed and breakfast.

I stopped at Starbucks for an iced passion tea.  The person behind me heard my name when I placed my order and said, "Er, Rich . . . I don't mean to alarm you, but you have this big bee on your back!"  He was a good samaritan and escorted me  outside to flick the bee off.

I was a bit disappointed.  I had set my mind on a falafel wrap at the Lucky Dill on Central Ave.  But, when I got there and checked out their new menu, *POOF* it was gone!  :-(  I'll just have to go around the corner to Dööners.

And back home again.  I just can't stop snapping pictures!  I try!

A Foggy Morning in St. Pete Town

I am in my fifth week of "retirement" now.  I haven't developed any sort of routine yet, taking the time to let whatever will be, will be.  One thing that has been fairly well consistent, is a morning walk.  Dave meets me at 9 AM and we head off in a different direction depending on the whim of the day.
This morning there was a fog hanging over Tampa Bay and over downtown St. Pete.  As our walk progressed, the fog was lifting.
I still find it hard to believe that this is February and I'm living here.  So much of "winter" is a distant memory.  I forget what time of year it really is.

One of the things I am enjoying, is having time.  It sort of reminds me of when I was a child.  Especially thinking back on summer days when I was growing up.  I got up in the morning. Had breakfast.  Went out to play with my brother and sister, and/or cousins and/or neighborhood friends.  There was no set schedule.  We played until we were called in for lunch.  Then played some more until we were called in for dinner.  A clock wasn't necessary.  It's pretty much like that now.  Only my playtime is not quite the same, and no one prepares my meals and calls me in when they are ready.  (Shout out to Ma!)
Caught this school of fish under the dock on the way back.

I'm glad I live in a place that is perpetual "summer".  It always was my favorite time of year!
