It's Official!

My Jeep has finally joined me as an official Florida resident. I spent the $20 to pay New York State to furnish me with a copy of the title, which I needed in order to get my "tag" here in Florida. So, after surrendering the title, which will be replaced with a Florida title (at only $33.75) plus the $146.10 to register the vehicle to get my tag, for a total of $179.85. Plus, since I like to travel lightly, I only brought my checkbook and my VISA card with me. But, alas, the Tax Collector does not accept VISA. Only Discover, MasterCard or American Express. I knew I should have brought a fat wallet with me! And people complain about the rules and regulations and taxes in New York State! I won't even begin to go into the fun time I had with another one of Florida's fine departments!

Coffee Pot Bayou

The other night I had planned on going to the supermarket, a Publix, located a couple minutes from me. I decided to take a new route....heading about 6 blocks due north, to an area along the Coffee Pot Bayou. I was taken with how beautiful it is. I'm thinking that when I start jogging again....there's where I'm going to jog! There's a sidewalk that runs along Coffee Pot Boulevard, right on the Bayou.

I had a job interview in Tampa this afternoon, so I thought that I would take some time this morning to visit the bayou area again and take some shots. There are a lot of For Sale signs up. Any takers?

My Jeep was waiting for me on a side street. That's a circle with a big urn ("One Grecian Urn") in the background.

I'll talk about my job interview in a future post. I guess...depending on how it turns out!

I couldn't pass this shot up!

Around St Pete - Day 5

Today has been a beautiful sunny day! I took a walk to the Pier this morning. Took tons of photos and went into the gift shops around the first floor of the structure.

In the afternoon I did a tour around the Peninsula first to the upper North East, across to the beaches and down thru the beach areas. Had delicious crab cakes for lunch at Philthy Phil's. There was a refreshing (notice I didn't say cool?) breeze on the upper deck.

From there, to Gulfport, a small, artsy 'town' at the southwest corner of the peninsula. Then thru the souther part, heading east and then north.

I met with Ralph to sign my lease for my apartment . . . September 1! Whoo! Hooo! Now I think I have some work to do to put this all into actually happening!

Enjoy this small sample of this beautiful day . . .

Greetings from St. Petersburg!

I arrived safely last night. What an easy drive from Tampa airport to downtown St. Pete! All highway right to downtown, 3 blocks from my hotel! Did a little exploring, walking around a few blocks near my hotel. Not quite what I expected, but so far very nice! Quiet and laid back. No traffic. Ended up going to see Hairspray at the Muvico 20 screener 2 blocks from my hotel.

My hotel is more like a bed and breakfast. Only about 25 rooms and run by a young couple with a little boy named Jacob who actually runs the place!

Here's Jacob preparing the continental breakfast.

I'm Bad!

I have been terrible about posting to this blog. I'm going to get fired if I'm not careful! I thought I'd pretend it's "Show and Tell" time in school. So, here are two gifts I got for my recent birthday. Am I cool, or what?

Heading to Florida this coming week. Going to be checking out St. Pete area. I'm hoping to do less of this:

And more of THIS!:
