An Evening in Saint Petersburg Florida

After I got home from work, I had a quick snack, and then started feeling guilty about not posting more regularly to this blog. So, I took a short ride to downtown Saint Pete to take some pictures of the transformation taking place for the Honda Grand Prix of Saint Petersburg. This will be the 5th annual Grand Prix to take place here. I wanted to drive down a short stretch of the track while the streets were still open! I had fun. OK, so I got a speeding ticket...I couldn't help myself!

And, as usual, I love the palm trees, so took some shots along North Shore Park.

Last week I ate at the Red Mesa Cantina downtown. I went with Otto on Wednesday night, and Wayne and I went there on Sunday night. Seems like we just couldn't settle on a Chinese buffet, so we hit the Red Mesa. I wish I had had my camera with me to take some pictures of our food. Scrumptious! But, I'll make sure I do a future post to include the food.

The Ides of March 2009

Yum! Yum! Yum!!! Starting the day with fresh strawberries on pancakes. Mmm! Mmm! Mmm!

On Sunday afternoon we went for a ride up alternate Route 19, north of Clearwater.

Our first stop was Honeymoon Island, between Dunedin and Tarpon Springs. It's a State Park. As you can see, we do need more rain!

Walking along the beach was not an easy task. It was very rocky and full of shells. The rocks almost looked like sponges, the way the water had worn them.

The beach is narrow and was quite full of people! I think we're near the peak of the tourist season.

The causeway was full of parked cars, people fishing, sunning themselves.

This was in Tarpon Springs. We drove around Howard Park too.

This is on Sunset Point. There were a bunch of picnickers there.

When I got home and was putting a few groceries away, I found an open bag of Christmas M&M Dark Chocolates. So, of course, I couldn't let them go to waste. So, I let them go to waist. Et tu, Brute?

A Tale of the Girl Scout Thin Mint

Tracy took orders for Girl Scout Cookies at work a short while back. I ordered my favorites: Samoas, Thin Mints and Trefoils. Well, the Samoas were the first to go. Then the Trefoils. I picked up another box of Samoas today. I put off opening the Thin Mints until tonight, and I blame Wayne for that.

I was talking on the phone with him while I was out on my walk along Tampa Bay. He mentioned that he went grocery shopping and bought some Edy's Girl Scout Thin Mint ice cream. Well, I had to do some grocery shopping myself, and as I was ending up, I took a stroll down the frozen foods aisle. Well, what do you know? There right in front of me was the Edy's section.

Ummmmmmm, it sure was good! And about 2/3, well, maybe 3/4 of one pack of the Thin Mint cookies are now history.

Gasparilla Festival of the Arts / Ybor City

This past weekend was the 39th Annual Gasparilla Festival of the Arts in downtown Tampa. There were around 300 booths of a wide variety of wares and artwork. The day was beautiful on Saturday, sunny and in the high 70s. I haven't spent much time yet in Tampa's downtown, so I enjoyed taking some shots of the various buildings.

There were a bunch of people dressed in various green outfits hanging around Boss Hogg's place. A little early start to St. Paddy's Day perhaps?

We went to dinner at the Spaghetti Factory in Ybor City. We sat in a streetcar in the middle of one of the rooms.

Our waiter took this picture, but he held the camera high, plus it's blurry, so I'm keeping it little.

A Day in The Life

Seems like some days some things just aren't right! The economy has sure affected life on the teller line! We're going to get a pool going to see who cracks first.

Plant City Strawberries

I love strawberry season! Still feels like winter though; temperatures dipping into upper 40s last night and tonight. Highs during the days only in the upper 50s. Brrrrr!!! But, at least I'm not in the middle of that Nor'easter!!!
