Stormy Weather

This time of year the old saying, "March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb" echoes in my head ever since I heard it in first or second grade.  Seems like here in Florida this year, it reversed itself.  We've been under a tornado watch for most of the day, and there's another line of storms heading through again.

Earlier this morning I figured I'd get a couple loads of laundry done.  While the last load was in the dryer, with about 3 minutes left, the power went out.  And with the automatic door opener on the overhead door on the garage where the machines are located, I was denied entrance.  All about timing!
Fortunately, when the power came on again after being out for an hour, I went to retrieve the laundry, and there was still the 3 minutes left, so I pressed the start button, and POOF!  Wrinkles gone!

We are still under a tornado watch, and it's still very windy and dark out there.  Some very close thunder boomers still!

Earlier on my facebook post, I commented that all that was going thru my head was:

The wind began to switch, the house to pitch, and suddenly the hinges started to unhitch.

Oh my!

Leisurely Morning Walk

Took a nice leisurely walk to downtown and then over to the Bay.  Had some competition for the sidewalk space over on 15th Ave NE.
"HEY!  I'm walking here . . . "
Walked to Starbucks and sat and read my April selection for the book club. "Secret Anniversaries of the Heart" by Lev Raphael.  Collection of short stories.  Liking it a lot.
More jasmine in bloom on the fence in my backyard.  Such a nice smell!

Yummy End to the Weekend

It was a very busy weekend!  Friday night after work I met up with friends at Georgie's for dinner and to hang out.  Pete and Joe invited a bunch of guys to meet our new neighbors Evan and Lonnie.  They bought a house on the street behind Pete and Joe.  They will be renting it out and plan on moving here sometime in 2012.  It was kind of a "Welcome to St. Pete" gala.  And more small world, Lonnie is originally from Lake Luzerne!

On Saturday night Wayne and I went to see "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" at American Stage.  It was an early celebration of Wayne's birthday.  It's one of his favorite movies, and being that Liz Taylor just passed away, the timing was appropriate.  The production was excellent.  Just over 3 hours long, and the acting was super!

On Sunday I went up to San Antonio to visit with Janet and her family.  Her son Jason is in town for a while, with his wife Denise and their two daughters.  I hadn't seen Jason and Denise since their wedding shower up at Thatcher Park in NY!  Lots of laughs there for sure, and we got to see an alligator in the pond behind her house!

After I got back to my place, Pete and Joe invited me over to hang out with them and their friends Michael and Sandy who are visiting from North Carolina.  Michael is originally from New York.  It was a fun time, margaritas and munchies.  They had brought a big piece of homemade Italian tri-color cookie and asked if I liked them.  I mentioned that my aunt made them, and I LOVE them!  And coincidently, today is Aunt Annie's 90th Birthday!  So when I left to come back to my apartment, Sandy cut me a big piece of the cookie sheet!  And it is YUMMY!!!  I took these shots before I made love to it.
